Overview & Location
Shangrila Resort is located in Skardu and it is also known as Paradise, Some of the highest mountains of the world are situated in the middle of this heart-shaped lake, where flowers and grass are planted all around, and a garden is planted with flowers.
After visiting Shangrila Resort you feel as if you have come to heaven, it feels like you have come here during the month of May, this is such an experience where after visiting people keep the idea of visiting again and again, this lake is also known by the name of Kachura lake.
This lake was built in 1983, it is near Skardu which is located at an elevation of 800 feet from 2500 meters above sea level.To see the wonderful beauty and natural views, it is best to visit Shangrila.
It starts from March. It has its own beauty in hot weather and it has its own beauty in cold weather.
Brigadier Mohammad Aslam Khan had built this resort. he was first commander of Northern Scouts of Pakistan Army and now his son Arif Aslam Khan looks after its management.
This land was sold by a person in Kachura and it was built in the 19th century.
Accommodation & Prices
Rooms have a variety—Standard Rooms, Standard Family, Lakeside Rooms, Lakeside Deluxe, Swiss Cottages/Villas, Executive Suites (1, 2, and 3 bedroom). Rates vary according to season and room type: ₹30,000 to ₹155,000 plus PKR tak per night depending on option.

- Swiss Villa ~ PKR 95,000,
- Shangrila Resort has variety of standard rooms, Standard Family, Lakeside Rooms, Lakeside Deluxe, Swiss Cottages/Villas, Executive Suites (1-2 and 3 bedroom), rates and charges are different as per room type, per night it ranges from 30000 plus PKR to 150000 plus PKR.

- Lake Side Deluxe ranges from 45000 to 60 thousand,
- Swiss Villa cost between Rs 900,000 to Rs 1,00,000,3 bedroom executive suite costs between Rs 140000 to Rs 155000Check-in is from 2:00 PM till 12:00 PM, if available late checkout can be done till 4:00 PM, check-out is done with normal charges.
Food & Dining
The resort has quite a few dining options:
• Shangri-La offers rooftop dining option along with The Village BBQ Bonfire.
• Pagoda Restaurant which is built entirely out of water, has a romantic lakeside setting with Pakistani and continental dishes which are very delicious.
• Lake view restaurant, Rock Lounge Café, Snack Bar and DC-3 Café (ek purine.
•The restaurant is located in the aircraft fuselage, which is a delightful site to visit.
Facilities & Activities
Activities include:
• In Guests house free pick-n-drop services available from Skardu Airport to guest house.
• Along with this, free Wi-Fi, laundry, valet/self parking, daily housekeeping and room service are also included, extra mattress is charged from PKR 5000 to 6000 per night.
•You need a boat to go to the lake and there is a trout hatchery/fish farm in it too.
•There is also a mini bird zoo and a duck pond.
•Hiking/jogging trails, viewpoint with panoramic mountain views are available.
•Jeep Safari to Upper Kachura, Skardu Fort, Khaplu, Shigar Desert and Dosages are free from the Guest House.
•You get the facility of heart path in the guest house.
Entry Fee (Non Guests)
However, if you do not stay in the resort, the entry fee for locals is PKR 1000 (approx.). This includes main lake access, boating, and jogging track. But this facility is not available in some restaurants.
